Here are a bunch of hotels from my "under $70 and cheap, basic hotels" list with some comments made by other people who stayed at them. As you will see, different people have different takes on the same hotel. I've had no personal experience with any of them but other people have recommended them. Most are just the basic of hotels.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND: Everyone has their own idea of what constitutes a “good hotel”, depending on personal likes and dislikes, past experiences, level of demands, acceptance of things different than the norm, adaptibility, friendliness, etc. One person’s meat is another man’s poison, that’s what makes horse racing.....so use the comments as a guide, not as absolute fact.

Also most hotels have smaller and larger rooms - depends on which you happen to get, the luck of the draw. So for the same hotel some people can get a small room, others a large room.

$100 - 150 in central area

Here are a bunch of hotels with rooms around $100-150, some with comments made by other people who stayed at them . I'm only personally familiar with the first one, the Mansart, where we've stayed for 20 years. The others have been recommended by other people and the comments are by them. As you will see, different people have different takes on the same hotel. Some are right bank, some left. In general, the left bank is busier, the right bank quieter, although it's really the individual street that's more important.

We always stay at the same place on the right bank and like it. Others prefer the business of the left bank. They're all in the central area and very convenient for walking to many places.

With A/C in at least some rooms- Abbatial, Mansart, Regent, Jardin de Cluny, Fleurie, Marroniers, Continent. Duminy Vendome, Dauphine St Germaine des Pres, Richmond Opera, Parc Saint-Severin, Pas de Calais, Hotel Louvre-Marsollier Opera, Hotel Prince de Conti, Hotel de l'Odeon, Louvre Rivoli, Queen Mary.

Be aware that many hotels with A/C don't have it in all rooms so check when you make the reservation. Some have it but don’t turn it on (don’t ask -I don’t know).

Here are a bunch of hotels with rooms around $150-200, some with comments made by other people who stayed at them. I'm only personally familiar with the first one, the Mansart, where we've stayed for 20 years. The others have been recommended by other people and the comments are by them. As you will see, different people have different takes on the same hotel. Some are right bank, some left. In general, the left bank is busier, the right bank quieter, although it's really the individual street that's more important.

We always stay at the same place on the right bank and like it. Others prefer the business of the left bank.They're all in the central area and very convenient for walking to many places.

A/C in at least some rooms - Mansart, de l'Abbaye, Le Regent, Left Bank Best Western, Madison, de Fleurie, Buci Latin, Relais St Sulpice, Duminy Vendome, de Lutece, Hotel de l'Odeon, Hotel Prince de Conti, Louvre Rivoli. Be aware that many hotels with A/C don't have it in all rooms so check when you make the reservation. Some have it but don’t turn it on (don’t ask -I don’t know).

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND: Everyone has their own idea of what constitutes a “good hotel”, depending on personal likes and dislikes, past experiences, level of demands, acceptance of things different than the norm, adaptibility, friendliness, etc,etc. One person’s meat is another man’s poison, that’s what makes horse racing.....so use the comments as a guide, not as absolute fact.
